Abstract

Sequential overlapping and feedback overlapping between R&D project activities can shorten project schedule, but also it can result to rework risk. In order to describe perfectly the sequential overlapping and feedback overlapping and their impact on rework, the information output time factor DSM (design structure matrix) and the information input time factor DSM are presented and rework risk DSM are applied to calculate project time. Furthermore, the project duration time model based-on sequential overlapping and rework time mode based-on feedback overlapping are proposed. For a case of project activity sequence optimization problem, set the project total time model based on overlapping as the objective, an optimized project is obtained by using genetic algorithms (AG). The result indicates that the project duration and the rework time are significantly reduced.
