The paper provides a successful application case of Qian Xuesen's meta-synthesis method in the optimization of agricultural production structure. By using his meta-synthesis thoughts, theories and methods of agricultural system engineering and complex giant system, the production structure optimization problems of Changqing County's big agriculture system (including planting, animal husbandry, forestry, aquaculture and Processing Industry) are studied. The optimal production structures for all kinds of weather conditions are derived through the meta-synthesis of combination of qualitative and quantitative, the meta-synthesis of model system, and the meta-synthesis of man-machine system. Stability and sensitivity analysis of production structures are also provided. The implementation of the production plan achieved remarkable economic benefits, social benefits and ecological benefits.
