This paper systematically analyzes the currently used methods for selecting MIS project, including cost-benefit analysis, protfolio approach, the ranking technique , and scoring model In order to overcome the disadvantages of each currently used method, a zero-one multiobjective programming model is presented that is used to help information systems managers make decisions when MIS priject selection goals are conflicting and measured in incommensurable units and which MIS projects should be selected for development and implementation in a constrained environment. To illustrate the application of this model to MIS project selection,a corpotate resource allocation problem is developod and solved by computer. Comparative results with currently used scoring and ranking methods reveals the superiority of the proposed multi- objective linear programming model.
